Mesker Park Zoo Unveils Wild Summer Lights

This August, Mesker Park Zoo & Botanic Garden is flipping the switch on a brand-new way to experience the zoo—after dark. Launching August 14 and running Thursday through Sunday evenings until October 6, Wild Summer Lights invites guests to explore a glowing mile-long pathway filled with custom-built illuminated sculptures.

From towering giraffes and playful penguins to glowing flowers and birds, each lantern has been handcrafted to light up the night in vibrant color. It’s a blend of wildlife, art, and imagination that brings a fresh twist to a familiar favorite.

Visitors can enjoy the zoo in a new way as they stroll through the displays, stop for a bite at food trucks, spin around on the carousel, and catch live entertainment on select nights. The gift shop stays open for evening shoppers, and the overall experience is designed to be family-friendly, festive, and visually stunning.

To ensure a welcoming environment for all, the zoo is also offering sensory-friendly nights on August 20 and September 24. These evenings feature reduced noise, no live music, and smaller crowds—perfect for guests who benefit from a calmer atmosphere.

Tickets are required for entry and must be purchased in advance. Daytime zoo admission does not include access to Wild Summer Lights, so plan accordingly. Prices are $18 for adults and $16 for children, with discounts available for zoo members. Children under 2 are free.

It’s a perfect excuse for locals to revisit the zoo in a whole new light—and see a familiar favorite transformed into something truly magical.
