Following a standout debut, Wild Summer Lights returns to Evansville beginning July 30 through October 4, 2026, transforming the Zoo into a vibrant, after-hours attraction that blends art, culture, and nature into one unforgettable evening.
A Mile of Light, Color, and Culture
As the sun sets, the Zoo comes alive with more than a mile of handcrafted Chinese lantern displays. Created in partnership with Tianyu Arts & Culture, these larger-than-life installations weave through pathways and landscapes, offering a completely different way to experience one of the top things to do in southern Indiana.
Each display is thoughtfully designed, turning familiar spaces into immersive scenes filled with movement, color, and detail—making every visit feel new.
More Than a Walk Through the Zoo
Wild Summer Lights goes beyond visual spectacle. Each evening features live performances from local musicians, adding energy and atmosphere throughout the experience. A rotating lineup of local food trucks brings even more variety, making it easy to turn a visit into a full night out.

Wild Summer Lights runs Thursday through Sunday with extended evening hours:
- July & August: 7:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m.
- September through October 4: 6:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m.
