Spark & Spin Lights Up cMoe with Student-Built Innovation
There’s something new spinning at the Children’s Museum of Evansville (cMoe) — and it’s lighting up more than just the exhibit floor. The newly unveiled Spark & Spin interactive experience, designed and built by North High School’s engineering students, is not only a creative achievement — it’s a shining example of the innovation and intergenerational collaboration that sets Evansville apart.
At the heart of Spark & Spin is a stationary bike and a glowing arch — the faster kids pedal, the more light they generate. It's a simple yet powerful metaphor brought to life: energy, determination, and imagination can fuel bright ideas. Designed with young learners in mind, the exhibit gives kids a hands-on way to experience STEM in action. It also spotlights the ingenuity of local students, thanks to the guidance of educator Mr. Bobbitt and the support of the Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation.
More than just an exhibit, Spark & Spin reinforces cMoe’s mission to foster curiosity and playful learning while reflecting Evansville’s homegrown talent. For visitors, it offers something uniquely local — a rare chance to experience a museum piece built by the community, for the community. It’s an ideal stop for families looking to blend fun with a touch of inspiration during their time in the city.
Located in the historic downtown Central Library building, cMoe is open Tuesday through Sunday. Whether you're a local family exploring something new or a visitor looking for a one-of-a-kind attraction, the Spark & Spin exhibit is proof that Evansville's future is both bright and bike-powered.
