Mesker Park Zoo & Botanic Garden wrapped up 2025 with a record-setting year, welcoming 229,278 guests through its gates. The milestone reflects a growing interest in outdoor, family-friendly experiences and reinforces the Zoo’s place as one of Evansville’s most loved attractions for both residents and visitors. From daytime adventures to seasonal events, the Zoo continues to be a key stop for travelers looking to experience the city beyond the usual itinerary.

A major highlight of the year was the debut of Wild Summer Lights, a colorful nighttime lantern festival that quickly became a must-see experience. Running from mid-August through early October, the event sold more than 50,000 tickets and gave visitors a new reason to plan late-summer and early-fall trips to Evansville. The overwhelming response made it clear this was something special—and the good news is Wild Summer Lights will be returning in 2026.
The strong year wasn’t driven by one event alone. Favorites like Orchid Escape, Zoo Brew, Boo at the Zoo, and Breakfast with Santa continued to draw crowds, while hands-on programs such as Camp Zoofari and school break camps kept families coming back throughout the year. Together, these experiences helped turn a single visit into repeat trips, boosting both attendance and overall tourism impact.
Looking ahead to 2026, there’s plenty to be excited about at Mesker Park Zoo & Botanic Garden. The Zoo remains a favorite stop for visitors of all ages and is included on the Explore Evansville Attraction Pass for general admission, making it easy to add to a weekend getaway or family trip. With Wild Summer Lights returning and a full slate of seasonal experiences on the calendar, this local jewel continues to be one not to miss in the year ahead.
